Between the two wars, the city has started developing into a seaside resort but, when the Second World War started, it was incorporated in the Atlantic Wall. Today, it is still possible to see some military structures, and history buffs can visit the city fort. The port of Hook of Holland is located about 5 minutes by car from the city centre and about 1 hour by car from Amsterdam. The underground station is next to the Stena Line Terminal. There is also a bus connection to Hook harbour. Inside the ferry terminal, you can find vending machines, toilets, a car parking and a restaurant. In the port area, there are several cafés, restaurants, and supermarkets.
